1) Strong and hands on regular DBA activities using DB2 DBA /UDB 2) Strong in core database concepts 3) Should have worked on developing Databases (Schema Development) 4) Strong DB Design skills (Physical and Logical) 5) Should have very good hands on exposure to DW Databases, conceptual & physical understanding of regular DW concepts 6) DB2 Design and Architecture, DB space management, DB sizing, DB performance tuning 7) Very good experience in performance tuning the DW Databases 8) Strong hold on Db2/Oracle Tools: DB2dart, Toad, DB2diag, DB2 Health, DB2 Audit, DB2 Explain, ERWin Datamodeler 9) Experience in Handling Production Support on Unix/ Linux environment 10) Experience in handling Primary Support

Desired Candidate Profile

Job location – Bangalore, Designation :- Senior Engineer / Senior Consultant Responsibilities: Participate with the design, development, preparation, and maintenance of DB2 databases. Participate in key support issues for one or more production databases: • Ensure a high-level application support pertaining to databases and platform operating environment. Provide performance monitoring and tuning, application development and client problem resolution with optimum speed and efficiency. • Ensure that backup/recovery environments meet requirements and have correct implementation. Assist in recovery from loss of data caused by user or system error. Ensure backup and disaster recovery procedures are in place and followed. • Perform the installation and upgrade of RDBMS and related products. Maintain at current release levels and stable implementations. • Provide capacity planning, monitoring and reporting as required for short-term and long-term growth. • Provide basic system-programming requirements. • Reorganize database structures as needed. Automate procedures at regular intervals and use tools to maximize performance and efficiency. • Ensure data pertaining to the status of problems and service requests is entered into the problem tracking systems accurately and promptly on a daily basis. • Provide application tier support and maintenance when required. • Provide software upgrades and release build distribution using proper change management. • Ensure database availability and optimal performance. Skills: • At least three years of in-depth experience in the design, administration, programming and support of DB2 database systems in one or more computing environments (e.g. Unix, NT, intranet, Web). • Good knowledge and understanding of server-side development issues surrounding triggers, stored procedures, and packages. • Experience with scripting and programming languages (e.g. 4GL, Perl, C++, Visual Basic, etc.) • Ability to monitor and tune the DB2 database. • Experience in the design of data extract, migration and queuing facilities. • Experience with cross-platform networking in a TCP/IP environment. • Experience in logical and physical database design, techniques, and development methodology, and also physical schema design of table spaces, rollback segments and data files. • First-hand prior experience in developing and supporting RDBMS’s. • Working knowledge of database concepts, deployment, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning, SQL, and relational database design techniques. • Experience in one or more RDBMS-specific middleware tools and utilities to support such activities such as monitoring, database migration, DDL management, and replication. • Knowledge in the concepts of database normalization techniques
